PX Electronics Limited designs and manufactures static frequency converters and specialist power conversion equipment from its base in Reading, United Kingdom.

The company was established in 2022 to provide a more focused and practical approach to power conversion.

We wanted to build a business where customers could discuss their requirements directly with people who understand the equipment, rather than being limited to a standard catalogue specification.

That remains central to how we work today.

Some customers need a straightforward 50Hz, 60Hz or 400Hz static frequency converter. Others come to us with an unusual supply voltage, a difficult load, restricted installation space or a specification that has already been rejected by larger manufacturers.

Engineering Support Beyond Delivery

A static frequency converter usually forms part of a larger machine, test system or facility. The support available after delivery can therefore be just as important as the original equipment specification.

Depending on the project, PX can provide Factory Acceptance Testing, customer or independently witnessed testing, installation and commissioning assistance, on-site operator and maintenance training, remote technical support, diagnostics, spare parts and ongoing support after the warranty period.

For larger projects, our engineers can attend site to commission the equipment and provide training. This allows operators to understand the controls, alarms, protection features and routine procedures before the system enters normal service.

Customers regularly comment on our response times, professionalism and after-sales care. Where a project requires it, technical support is available seven days a week.

We respond quickly. We ask questions before recommending equipment. We keep customers informed when a design is being developed, and we remain available when the system reaches site.

This personal approach matters most on bespoke and high-power projects. A small misunderstanding during specification can create significant difficulties during installation, so direct communication is built into the way we manage the work.

Project Experience

PX Electronics supports standard, modified and fully bespoke power conversion projects for customers in the UK and overseas.

Compact Marine Defence Converter

A defence contractor required a bespoke 1kVA static frequency converter for installation on board a ship. The converter had to fit within tightly controlled dimensions and use an IP54-rated enclosure. Reinforced panels and project-specific fixing points were also required to suit the installation.

PX designed the case and internal arrangement around the available space, rather than requiring the customer to adapt the vessel around a standard enclosure.

250kVA Converter for Complex Test Loads

An international customer in Poland asked PX to develop a 250kVA static frequency converter for a complex electrical test facility.

The system needed to accommodate six load arrangements. These included separate outputs for high-leg delta loads and loads that did not require the high-leg configuration.

The final design had to account for the different electrical characteristics of the test equipment while remaining practical for regular operation by the customer’s engineering team.

High-Power Static Frequency Converters for the United States

PX designed and manufactured four static frequency converters for a US customer, with ratings ranging from 250kVA to 280kVA.

The project required components selected around US electrical and safety requirements, together with redesigned IP54 enclosures. Arc-flash considerations, internal separation and robust protection measures also influenced the mechanical and electrical design.

Because of the size and complexity of the equipment, PX remained closely involved throughout specification, manufacturing, testing, documentation and international delivery.
