PXe-D-00-000 Series

PX Electronics PXe-D Series programmable DC power supplies convert an available single-phase or three-phase AC supply into controlled, adjustable DC voltage and current.

The range supports constant-voltage and constant-current operation, allowing engineers to power equipment, apply controlled current or reproduce defined DC operating conditions. Configurations extend from compact lower-power supplies to engineered systems rated up to 480kW, with output voltages up to 1200V DC and high-current outputs available for specialist applications.

The PXe-D-6-5000 is an example high-current configuration. Rated at 30kW, it provides an adjustable output of 0 to 6V DC and 0 to 5000A, with PWM conversion, RS232 Modbus RTU communication and constant-voltage or constant-current control.

Technical Highlights for Programmable DC Power Testing

Adjustable Voltage & Current Control
Set the DC output voltage and current around the required test point, load or process condition, with programmable limits to prevent operation outside the permitted range of the connected equipment.

Constant-Voltage & Constant-Current Operation
CV mode regulates the selected output voltage, while CC mode maintains the programmed current as the connected load changes.

Low-Voltage High-Current & High-Voltage Configurations
Available for high-current DC applications such as shunts, busbars, current sensors, contactors, cables and assemblies, with higher-voltage configurations available up to 1200V DC for industrial systems and specialist power-electronics testing.

PWM Regulation with Local Measurement
Solid-state PWM conversion provides controlled DC output with electronic voltage and current regulation. Front-panel indication provides voltage, current, power and operating-time information, with stored settings available on selected controllers.

Remote Control & Electrical Protection
Optional RS232, RS485, and Modbus communications support PLC, computer, and automated test-system integration, with protection against overvoltage, overcurrent, overtemperature, and short-circuit conditions.

PXe-D Series Configurations

PXe-D Series DC power supplies are configured around the available AC input, required DC voltage and current, operating mode, duty cycle and connected load.

Single-phase input is available on selected lower-power units. Higher-power and high-current systems normally use a three-phase input to reduce the current carried by each incoming phase.

Dimensions, weight, input requirements and connection arrangements are confirmed at quotation because they depend on the selected voltage, current and power rating.

High-Current Output Considerations

At very high current, resistance in the output circuit can create a significant voltage drop. Cable length, cable cross-section, busbar design, terminal resistance and connection quality must therefore be considered as part of the complete system.

For low-voltage high-current applications, PX will normally review:
