Motor Drives & Inverters

PX Electronics supplies Motor Drives & Inverters for motor control, speed regulation and DC-to-AC power conversion applications.

The range includes compact variable speed motor drives, higher-performance current vector inverters and pure sine wave DC-to-AC inverters. These products are used where engineers need controlled motor operation, adjustable speed, stable torque performance or clean AC output from a DC battery supply.

Each product type serves a different purpose. A variable speed motor drive controls the speed and behaviour of an AC motor. A current vector inverter provides more advanced motor control for demanding machinery. A pure sine wave inverter converts DC battery power into mains-style AC output for backup, off-grid and mobile power systems.

PX Electronics can help customers select the correct product around the connected load, input supply, motor rating, control method and installation environment.

Available Motor Drive & Inverter Products

PX Electronics offers a focused range of motor drives and inverter products for industrial, commercial, automation and small power conversion applications.

Choosing the Correct Motor Drive or Inverter

The correct selection depends on whether the application requires motor speed control, higher-performance vector control or AC output from a DC source.

Motor Drive and Inverter Selection Guidance

Motor drives and inverters should be selected using the complete electrical and mechanical requirement, not simply the motor power rating. For motor control applications, PX Electronics will normally review:

  • Available input supply
  • Motor voltage and power rating
  • Single-phase or three-phase motor requirement
  • Load type
  • Starting torque requirement
  • Speed range
  • Acceleration and deceleration requirements
  • Duty cycle
  • Control method
  • Analogue and digital I/O requirements
  • Communication requirement
  • Braking requirement
  • Installation environment
  • Enclosure and cooling requirements

For pure sine wave inverter applications, selection is based on the DC input voltage, AC output voltage, continuous wattage, surge requirement, load type, battery capacity and required protection functions. Motors, pumps, compressors, transformers and capacitive input loads can draw more current during start-up than during normal running. This should be allowed for when selecting either a motor drive or a DC-to-AC inverter.

Why Choose PX Electronics for Motor Drives & Inverters?

PX Electronics supplies motor drives and inverters for practical industrial and power conversion applications where the connected equipment needs to be matched properly to the supply and control requirement.

A small fan drive, a current vector inverter for industrial machinery and a battery-powered pure sine wave inverter are not specified in the same way. Each has different priorities, from speed control and torque response through to waveform quality, DC input voltage, protection and installation format.

PX supports customers with product selection, technical review, supply and after-sales support. Where required, systems can be reviewed alongside wider PX power conversion equipment, including Static Frequency Converters, AC power supplies and power analysers.
